It has always been our district's policy to ask student contacts and visitors to provide their driver's license to verify they are who they say they are and to verify they have the student's parent/guardian permission to be there or to pick up the student. For the safety of our students, all first-time visitors without a SchoolPass account or pin will be required to sign in using their driver's license.
Parents are assigned unique QR codes, also known as QuickPins, that are used to identify individuals who enter and exit our buildings. This also keeps our buildings from allowing individuals into the building who should not be there.
Step One: Setting Up Your Account
-
How do I set up my profile?
Direct parents and guardians should have received a "Welcome Email" from a no-reply SchoolPass email address, giving you a direct link to log in and enter a temporary password to sign in from each building you have student(s) assigned to.
If you did not receive an email, visit SchoolPass.com and click "Find My School" at the top right of the web browser. From there, enter your associated PowerSchool email address. This should show your student(s) buildings. These will be the buildings where you have QuickPins/QR codes.
We recommend creating the same password for each building you are assigned to. This will make signing in and out of each profile faster.
-
I've received a link to create my profile but the temporary password is not working/my password is incorrect.
Because new accounts need to sync with SchoolPass, information may be delayed after initial creation. If this problem continues, click "forgot my password" when logging in and reset your password this way.
Or, visit schoolpass.com/find-your-school and type in your associated email. Click on your child's school that you wish to log into and update your password. You will need to update each password for each student. You may set the same password for each building/child to switch back and forth between each profile easier.
-
Why did I receive multiple Welcome Emails?
You may have received multiple Welcome Emails because you have multiple students in the district. Each profile will need to be set up individually, however, we recommend setting the same password for each profile. This will give you the ability to change between profiles and buildings quickly.
You will also have multiple QuickPins/QR codes unique to you and each building you are assigned to.
Step Two: Signing In And Out
-
Where does my information go after I use it to sign in? How will it be used?
Your “profile” will be saved to our visitor system software. All of your information is private and will not be shared or viewed unless there is a safety issue. This is a more efficient way of signing in and out of the school buildings, compared to the paper-to-pen system.
-
Do I need my ID every time I sign in, even if I have a QuickPin?
If you have your QuickPin saved to your phone and readily available, you can scan in and out of the system using your QuickPin/QR code. Forgot your QuickPin code or don’t have one? You can then sign in as a normal visitor by clicking “New Visitor” and signing in manually.
-
If I have children in multiple school buildings, will I have the same pin?
No, because parents have random pins assigned to them, they will NOT be the same initially. Each QuickPin is unique to each individual and building, meaning you will need to sign in using the corresponding QuickPin to the corresponding building.
-
Do I need my license to sign in?
It has always been our district's policy to ask student contacts and visitors to provide their driver's license to verify they are who they say they are and to verify they have the student's parent/guardian permission to be there or to pick up the student. For the safety of our students, all first-time visitors without a SchoolPass account or pin will be required to sign in using their driver's license.
Parents and guardians will be randomly assigned their own unique QuickPins and QR codes. They can then use that to sign into your student(s) buildings.
All other visitors, or "New Visitors" will need to sign in every time they enter a building. Having their driver's license handy will make the sign-in process easier and faster. It pulls information like first and last name, birthday, and a photo.
If parents or a staff member (who will otherwise have a QuickPin assigned to them) forgets their QuickPin to sign in, they can sign in as a “New Visitor” and check in that way.
-
Can I save my QuickPin/QR code to my Apple Wallet? Can I just screenshot the QR code?
Yup! When you receive the notification to create your account, you should also simultaneously receive a text message/email notification link to your QuickPIN/QR code. This will give you the option to save your QR code to your phone or simply screenshot it.
Step Three: Changing and Updating Your Information
-
My student rides the bus. How can I change the carpool name?
We do not utilize the carpool/carline pick-up feature SchoolPass offers. If your child rides the bus or the last name on your carline is not updated, do not worry! We do not use that feature, nor do we check it.
Your student(s) can continue to ride the bus or be picked up as they normally do. Any changes to bus ridership need to be outside of SchoolPass.
-
My information / student's information is incorrect in the app.
Oftentimes, the system becomes overridden with changes when multiple parents sign in at once.
Signing out and signing back in fixes these changes. This "refreshes" the app/web browser. If this problem persists, email QuickNews@nixaschools.net your name, building, and your issue.
-
Who gets sent QuickPins on my students account?
All individuals who are listed in PowerSchool with custody flags have permission to sign in and out of the building. These QuickPins are tied to your student.
If you would like to update your email address, phone number, custody, etc., you will need to do so through your PowerSchool profile.
-
Key Terminology:
- QuickPINs / QR Codes: These terms are often times used interchangeably. The QR codes are what students, parents, teachers, and staff can use to sign into the iPad stations. Each QuickPin is unique and is assigned to one specific person who "identifies" who that person is.
- Carpool / "Adding Drivers" Option (app): Although SchoolPass has many features, we are not utilizing every single one. Parents and guardians may see an option to "add/change" their carpool and driver information. Please disregard any of that information. This will not change your contacts, nor will it override anything in PowerSchool or any information shared with the school district. This feature should not be used and only persons on the student's approved contact list in PowerSchool will be allowed to visit or pick up a student.
- "Student Checkin/Out" or "Early Dismissal" Options: Again, SchoolPass has many features. We are NOT utilizing student check-ins and outs at this time. Any information entered into SchoolPass will NOT translate to PowerSchool or building administrators. If you wish to sign your student in and out, please follow the previous protocol.
